I have become a digital nomad and I can (almost) work from anywhere! What’s that I hear you say? Well I am travelling freely while working remotely using technology and the internet.
When I started my corporate life in 1997 I was thrown straight into the deep end. Life in the fast land in the big city of London. A buyer/category manager for Sainsbury’s in the UK retail market was a stressful job with long hours and often trips away visiting suppliers. I chose to follow this path for 25 years. I knew it wasn’t something I could do forever and recent health issues proved this to be unsustainable so I was glad I had a back up plan.
When I went to a friend's festival wedding 10 years ago in the UK I realised that I wanted to become a marriage celebrant. This change of career would give me the chance to be “my own boss”. I was just about to turn 40 and thought it might be the first sign of a mid life crisis but I studied, passed my training and 9 years ago qualified to officiate my first ceremony. Over 100 ceremonies later and a 5 star rating on google I think I made the right decision. Aye Do Weddings was born! www.aye-do-weddings.com.au
Dont get me wrong I miss the regular pay cheques but here’s the other great thing, if you want to be a digital nomad there are other ways you can generate income. Air b n b has been a blessing for me, I pack up my personal items, lock then away in my bedroom and rent out the second bedroom in my flat on air b n b. The means whilst I am overseas working on weddings and business admin I have a passive income.

Last year I set up a company called “Aye Do Holidays” to manage our family flat in Scotland. Its been a LOT of hard work, (literally) blood, sweat and (a lot) of tears! But what breaks you makes you stronger and as we celebrate almost a year in business I am excited that things are finally levelling out and I look back 10 years ago when I thought I was having a mid life crisis, I am so glad I ignored the doubters said “aye do”!
I turn 50 next month and I am looking forward to the next decade with hope and optimism. I am working on my "Spring" weddings now (on a train to the coast of England) and look forward to getting back on the road in Australia in September to seal the love of all the couples who have booked me to officiate for them.
Taking bookings for 2025 weddings and my calendar is always open on https://calendly.com/aye-do-weddings if you want to have a chat on zoom!
Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy what you do!

Here is a list of 20 jobs a digital nomad can do? Have a look see if there's one for you.
People who "work to live" and people who "live to work" have different approaches to their jobs and their lives:
Work to live.
People who work to live view their job as important, but also as "just a job". They prioritize enjoying life and making time for family and other aspects of their lives outside of work. They may even choose a work arrangement that allows them to do so. However, some say that people who work to live may miss out on the fulfillment that a meaningful career can provide.
Live to work
People who live to work are passionate about their jobs and may be happiest when working. They may devote a disproportionate amount of their time, thoughts, and energy to their careers, which can threaten their work-life balance and damage their relationships. They may also have health problems as a result. However, some say that people who live to work can be motivated by professional and personal success, and find joy in their work.
